Alec got to go on his first really long road trip last week!! On Wednesday, we drove to Chattanooga. Alec did GREAT on the drive with lots of new toys and movies!! We ate at the Station House at the Chattanooga Choo Choo, which was a fun place with lots of music and singing!! (Saw this on Emily’s blog!! Thanks for the idea!!) Alec loved seeing all of the train cars!! Thursday we got up and went to Rock City, the Incline Railway and also Ruby Falls, after lunch. By the time we made it to Ruby Falls, Alec was pooped and slept for most of the tour. Unfortunately no strollers were allowed and Dustin ended up carrying him for over a mile!! He woke up as we were finishing the tour and we told him that he missed the waterfall. He says, “Go Find It!” Sorry, had enough walking already, he’ll have to see it next time!
After all of our Chattanooga site seeing, we headed to Pigeon Forge. Of course, Alec slept for most of this drive. Once we got to Pigeon Forge, traffic was HORRIBLE. It took us over an hour to drive one mile to our hotel. Needless to say, we ordered a pizza in our room for our first night. Other than the horrible traffic and my morning (all day) sickness, which gets much worse while in the car, we had a wonderful time and Alec loved all of the things we saw and did!!
We went to Ober Gatlinburg and rode the ski lift to the top of the mountain, then took Alpine slides back down the mountain! Alec loved this and said that Daddy drove FAST!! Which he did!! I kept having to slow my slide down because I was scared and Dustin and Alec were literally flying ahead of me!! Needless to say, they beat me going down!!
We also went to see the Dixie Stampede, this was by far, Alec’s favorite part of the trip. It’s a dinner show, where you sit around an arena and the show includes lots of horses!! The entire show, Alec was constantly yelling, “Yay, ride them, pet them, yeehaww, etc!” It was sooo funny!! The only bad part was that they don’t offer any silverware, it’s like eating out west in the old days…. So already being half sick, I had to help Alec eat his chicken with our bare hands. Yes, a WHOLE chicken!! Yuck!! But it was so much fun to see Alec having such a good time!!
We also took Alec horseback riding!! He was a little intimidated at first but ended up loving his horse, “Junior”. We rode our horses up and down a mountain hill and loved seeing all of the changing leaves!!
