Can I do 18 Months of Blogging in One Day???

Trying to fit 18 months worth of life with a new baby is going to be hard to do in one blog, but here goes…

My name is Michelle McNair Robinson and this is my blog about being a wife and new mommy!  I married my husband, Dustin Robinson on December 15, 2001 and we've been married for 8 wonderful years.  After we completed construction of our first home in May of 2007, we decided it was time to start a family of our own.

Alexander Reese Robinson, Alec was born on July 8, 2008 and weighed a whopping 8 lbs, 10 oz. His is the love of our life and is the first grandbaby on both sides of the family. Yes, he’s just a little spoiled! I stayed home with him until September 15th, then returned to my job as a real estate paralegal with Jackson, Bowman & Blumentritt in Hattiesburg. During my maternity leave, Dustin accepted a different position with the Mississippi Army National Guard in Jackson, so he started commuting back and forth from Sumrall to Jackson everyday.

Alec was jaundice so he had to stay wrapped up under a lighted blanket for the first several days he was home.  You can see the machine that connects to the blanket on the dresser.

September of 2008, we took our first family vacation with my extended family to Fort Morgan. Ten adults, one infant and 4 dogs made the trip. Needless to say it ended up being a disaster. A hurricane was coming in to Texas, which caused massive flooding in Fort Morgan. We evacuated our beach house at 3am with nothing but the clothes on our backs and baby formula. We were not able to get back to the house to get our things until the day before we went home. The rental company kept moving us from house to house and we kept having to leave due to rising water. Needless to say, the fourth house was a charm and we were able to stay there. It was not ready for renting, as the windows were boarded up and there was not much furniture. But we did all manage a little beach and pool time before heading home.

For Alec’s first Halloween, he was a pumpkin, here’s a picture of my cutie! We did not do much trick or treating, but made a visit to both Mimi and Nana’s houses.

Alec’s first Christmas in December of 2008 was wonderful!! We spent Christmas Eve in Ellisville with Dustin’s family. Alec even got his first taste of baby food that night! Christmas Day lunch was spent with the other side of the Robinson family and then we spent Christmas afternoon with my side of the family. Santa brought Alec a lion and activity table, which he loved!!

Alec’s first Mardi Gras Parade in Bay St. Louis came next. Alec loves music and had lots of fun looking at the interesting things! Both sets of grandparents and one set of great-grand parents were here with us too!!

In May of 2009, we re-did our disastrous beach trip to Fort Morgan. Same house, same people, same dogs, but we did have a wonderful time during this trip. Alec had a bad experience with a cold pool at day care and was extremely timid of the water (something we had to work at all summer), but Dustin was very patient and talked Alec into a little pool time! The weather was a little chilly and so one day we decided to take Alec on his first trip to the zoo. We went to the Gulf Shores Zoo and had a great time. Alec saw lots of animals, got his first ride in a wagon and even got to pet a baby tiger!!

I can already tell this is MUCH faster than scrap booking, as I’ve already covered almost a year in a half hour! I think I can get used to this!!

Alec’s first birthday party was next. We had it at the end of May, as Dustin attended Warrant Officer Candidate School during the summer of 2009 and was in Fort Rucker, AL. We had a baby pool/slash party with lots of friends and family. Yes, for those of you who are wondering, Alec was still a little scared of the water. I planned this party before the “pool phobia” started so we just stuck with it! He was a trooper and loved his first birthday cake!

For July 4th weekend, Alec and I went to our fishing camp in Bay St. Louis with Mimi and Papa. Nana and Paps even came down to have some fun too! Alec had his first boating experience and loved the boat!! We look forward to many more summers at the camp with Alec!!

On August 4, 2009, Dustin graduated from Warrant Officer Candidate School in Fort Rucker, AL. The Sealys and Robinsons all went to Alabama to attend his graduation. Dustin is now waiting for a Warrant Officer job in order to get the promotion. Alec and I had a long two months at home without him and were happy to have Dad home.

Football season started not long after that and our little “eagle” enjoyed going to a few Southern Miss games with Dustin and I. We can’t wait to enjoy more football games with our little kicker next year. Two of his first words were football and touchdown, so we know we’ve welcomed another football lover into the family! As I’m writing this, on January 18, 2010, Alec and I were just in walmart when he saw a HUGE man and started yelling at the top of his lungs “football” and pointing at a man across the aisle from us. Yes, my little angel thought the man was a “real life” football player. Thankfully the guy thought it was just as funny as I did! Southern Miss To The Top!!

This year, we were able to do a little trick or treating for our first time. Since duck was one of Alec’s first word, I thought he’d be perfect as a duck for Halloween!! We dressed him up, loaded up he and the dog in the wagon and off we went. At first, Alec didn’t get it, but after one of our neighbors opened a lolly pop and gave it to him, he was loving it!! He didn’t quite understand that you just take candy from people. He kept wanted to trade his sticky, used lolly pop for new candy at every house we went to!!

Mississippi got a white winter blanket of beautiful snow about a week before Christmas! Here are a few pictures of Alec and I in the snow. Dustin had drill in Jackson, so he wasn't home to play with us.

Whew, on to Christmas 2010, thank goodness, I’m about to wrap this post up! Alec was much more interested in Christmas this year. Although he was extremely slow. He’d want to play with whatever he opened for about 30 minutes before he’d get sick of it and want to move on to something else. This year Santa brought Alec a train table and a little power wheels jeep!! Although, he doesn’t quite yet understand how to make the jeep go, he loves the train table and plays with his trains everyday!!

I might as well get in a few pics from New Years since we are well into 2010 now. Dustin, Alec and I went to Mandi and Adam Parker's house this year. Alec loved the fireworks and even learned a new word, "BOOM". He also spent some time getting Playstation 3 lessons from two champs!!
